Touring -20 concerts

images

The first part of the tour was a 14 concert series across the north from Dawson Creek to Prince Rupert.

It got better than this but we started out by almost getting hit by a truck and then this one slid off the road and blocked us, eventually were able to squeeze by on the left.
Erica did most of the  heavy lifting on this tour (nailing every high note) with Gord and myself along for the ride with works like Parto Parto by Mozart and Schubert's Shepherd on the Rock. Piano pitch was all over the map, good thing I brought lots of extra barrels. This was a series of concerts for Health Arts. Many of the audience had seen and heard  us before and were glad to see us again. Most of our repertoire ( all of which were songs) had to do with mountains valleys Shepherds and the joy and beauty of nature. Very appropriate as we were playing in some of the most beautiful places you could find anywhere. We played a full program of classical music to appreciative audiences.

You don't have to dumb music down for the masses. People want to hear real music well played. The secret is to pick good music and prepare it well. Classical music  of this genre really is beautiful, few can resist.

Many many hours of practice and rehearsal went into these concerts and it showed, a nice change from some of the concerts I have to play.
Experience has taught us that bringing your own food and cooking is the way to go when on tour. We did find a couple of particularly nice places to eat though: Whole Wheat and Honey in Fort St John www.wholewheatnhoney.ca and Constant Cravings Cafe in Kitimat ( 1-528 Mountainview sq) Kitimat BC

Update. Just back from our last 6 concerts of 20. Scary driving,  we had a few close calls. We left Monday morning in a storm and arrived at the Gig in FSJ with 4 minutes to spare! There were cars off the road. Drive slowly, you get there in almost the same amount of time, especially when it's a long distance.

crashRoads were bad ice, snow, not plowed etc. We passed many cars that were off the road including this one.we passed it after the accident people were on the scene, very sad. I need to redo my St John's Ambulance  I think there is a level 3 course in jan.All the venues we played at asked us when we would be back.
