If the tone of your clarinet has lost something (clarity) or you are now finding that your left hand upper register is flat and it it is harder to focus the sound in the g-c range then check your register key tube.

Preparing New Reeds

So , you have a new box (or two) of reeds and hopefully you still have some old reeds you can play on while the new ones are being broken in. If you play full out on the new reeds right away they will not last very long (one rehearsal maybe).
If you are stuck and have to use them right away at least rotate them as much as possible. Basically the longer you take to break the reed in the lesser the chance of it warping

Reeds used by band students, too soft

Students in band programs end up playing on reeds, which are much too soft resulting in them never being able to progress past a very basic level. Why is this and what can be done to prevent it?
