Congratulations to all the students  who did their RCM exams.

Students are claiming their spots now for fall lessons.

September 9th at 2:05pm -330  & November 10th at 2:05pm -330 lessons on these days will have to start later or be moved as Simon is doing band instrument clinics at a school

clar3There are a lot of instrument makers out there offering a bewildering array of clarinets, flutes, saxophones at varying prices. For the beginner it can be hard to decide so here is some general advice.

 You get what you pay for.(for the most part)

I often have customers say to me "why would I want to pay $900 for a new student clarinet when I can get this one on EBay for only $99?".

After most concerts I review what I did musically and technically. I use the concert recordings when I do this, they are an invaluable tool.
I consider every aspect of my playing and setup. All areas that do not meet my ideal get worked on.

Don't be a selfish musician.

Classical musicians are generally a sensitive lot and indeed a lot of music is about and appeals to the higher nature of man. This make it all the more sad when selfish playing destroys the music for audience and musicians.
