Erica Skowron Bio

Erica Skowron is equally at home playing the oboe (as she does as principal oboist of the Prince George Symphony) or singing.
image031.jpgErica has appeared with the Prince George Symphony as mezzo-soprano soloist in opera arias and oratorios including major works by Mahler, Bach, Brahms and Handel and as oboe soloist in concertos by Albinoni, Mozart, Marcello, Vivaldi and Vaughan Williams..


She has also appeared as both a singer and an oboe soloist at the Kelowna Mozart Festival and on tour across Northern BC with various small chamber ensembles.
Erica received her Bachelor of Music from Wilfred Laurier University and received further studies from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.


Her 15 years of teaching experience have given her the opportunity to work with many different students ranging in age from 2 to 70. She studied Kodaly music for children with one of Kodaly's students and has attended master classes and workshops with many distinguished teachers including Richard Miller formally of the Metropolitan Opera.
