 This is ideal, the student progresses steadily without frustration.  I enjoy teaching very much and enjoy it more and more every year.  With music there is always something new to learn and even with my University degree and 20+ years of performing experience, I am still challenging myself through reading, workshops and the occasional lesson with my mentors. 
 I have a wonderful group of students of all ages and levels and from different walks of life.  Each student learns in their own unique way and I love the challenge of understanding how they think and how I can help them.

          You're never too old to learn. At age 71, I was concerned about difficulties I was having with my voice. Having sung in a choir for 40 years it was devastating to think I'd no longer have the joy of singing. A hearing check and music lessons were recommended at a workshop for the so called aging voice. We have had more successful students over the last 27 years (in obvious ways, like winning competitions, playing with the orchestra, getting jobs in music and doing well on exams and in less dramatic ways like having music as a positive part of their lives) than all the other wind teachers combined.

 First time students are always pleased and surprised to find out music lessons can be more fun and interesting than they had ever imagined. We love music and we want to give you the tools and abilities to experience music from inside like we do.
 
You don't need to have sung for years or already be able to play. Coming to us as a beginner is the best way because we can start you off correctly. We have  never had a student that couldn't sing or play and do it well.
You will be studying with trained musicians holding professional positions/degrees.

We have not only a flexible lessons plan but a flexible approach to teaching. Every student has different needs. Some  students are casual and an hour of enjoyment playing is all they are looking for others want to perform or have careers in music. Our proven success as teachers has been as a result of our understanding of what the student needs.

You can change your lesson times from week to week to match your schedule and that way you don't lose money paying for lessons you can' t make.
When you pay for a full month of lessons you may have them any time during that month.
We have an online calendar so you can log in and change your lesson. We only need 1 day's notice to change lessons . Most people just book the same time each week and then change it as needed

For all saxophone players

 Learn all about saxophone in a fun low pressure atmosphere. Reeds, mouthpieces, technique tone, how to blow, tongue, play fast, make a beautiful sound, jazz techniques and play fun music in a group.

Saturdays from 1:30-2:15. For all saxophone players. Cost $140 for 14 sessions only $70 for 14 sessions if you are already taking lessons with us. You can start at any time.

*studio membership works just like a gym or club membership. If you miss a lesson( that is you just don't show up) it is lost.

$60/hour plus .50 km return.   

 

Lesson policies

  • Lessons must be paid for in advance. If you pay as you go or book a partial month it is at the full rate $60/hour
  • 1 days notice is needed to change lesson time.
  • Lessons where the student just does not show up or are canceled the day of the lesson are lost.

Those on the term plans (3 months+) have more freedom to alter lesson length. This is a big reward for your commitment. Most teachers do not allow their students to adjust lessons like I do because it means the teacher is basically on call. If you change plans all lessons for that month are charged at the new plan rate.

Those on monthly plans must use up their time in that month.

What Happens in a Voice Lesson?

Each voice lesson is as unique as the student.  I am here to help you achieve your goals as a singer. 

 Whether you would like to sing in a choir, perform solos in church, sing a lead role in a musical or just sing for your own enjoyment, voice lessons can help.  We begin each lesson with a warm up to get your voice ready to sing.  In the warm up I will teach you how to breath, there will be exercises to relax the voice, exercises to improve the resonance of your voice and to improve your range.   If you have developed some bad habits over the years or specific issues with your singing we will work on those.  Then we work on the music.  I will help you choose music but the style of music is your choice.  I encourage to sing music you love.
